About the board

General goal | theme of the board

A classic longboard style board with amazing glide, that loves tail stalls and noseriding.

Wave type ||| size it's working best

Smaller softer longboard waves. From just under knee high up to overhead.

Maneuvers it does best

Tail stalls and nose rides.

Skill level it's best for

Novice to Pro..

Paddle power

SPEED: Excellent glide..

DIRECTIONAL CONTROL: Really good, due to length and parallel outline.

OVER WHITE WATER: Super stable.

WAVE CATCHING ABILITY: Great.

What you thought of when you designed it?

The goal we were chasing was a classic for the longboarding purist, with a focus on traditional log surfing, stalls into nose rides, glide and flow.

What it possibly compromises on then?

With loads of tail rocker and the softer tucked edge, it lacks squirt and drive off the back foot. It washes off speed when you're on the tail so it won't suit someone who wants to rip turns and stay on the tail. It will still turn but favors speed while doing so.

Design info

Outline

Full mal style nose, parallel clean curve into a pulled in rounded pin. The wide nose allows the board to plane easy, early and offers ample room to perch up the front. The parallel curve through the middle locks the rail in really well while nose riding, so it holds a clean line with speed while engaged with the wall. The tail pulls in relatively narrow with a tighter arc through the rear end so the rail to rail transition is easy and turns are tight off the back foot.

Rails

Low, soft, tucked edge through the tail. Combined with the parallel outline, the low rails offer great stability as the rail line is submerged while paddling, so it feels super solid underfoot. The low rail with the softer bottom edge also encourages water to wrap the rail, so it feels super engaged with the face while nose riding and really locks in. Additionally, the low rail drops into turns easily, the tuck in the tail helps pull the tail down adding to the locked in feeling while nose riding.

Rocker

Flat nose, clean arc through the middle into an accelerated tail kick. The flat nose carry’s well while positioned on the nose, it keeps its speed on softer sections and allows the board to also plane at low speeds while perched. The clean arc through the center allows for easy adjustments without the need to step back to the tail, so you can go nose ride, take a step back, readjust, pull a new line and step straight back up to the nose. The accelerated tail flip helps to stall really well, so a stomp on the tail and you can wash off speed quickly and set up easily for a walk into a nose ride. If you have enough speed, the flip will allow pretty decent tight surfing off the tail.

Bottom

Single concave all the way. The single helps get the board on rail easier, engages the rail better on the drop and while nose riding. It creates slightly more rocker on the rail line while keeping the centerline flatter for carry and speed.

Deck

Standard. The deck is still comfortable to stand on, even though the rails are quite thin this comes mainly from the reduced volume.

Fins

2+1. This fin set up works well with the longboard theme, the single offers good stability while walking, and good direction while on the nose. The side bites come in handy when you want to rip some turns.

Final Statement

A nice traditional longboard feel for someone who takes both SUP and longboarding seriously. Great for walking and nose riding, with good paddle power and stability it's also been a favorite with entry level crew too. The added bonus that you will never outgrow it, so it always retains a place in your quiver.
