THE GHOST is an all-around ripper that will help you to surf better each day!
This board is the brainchild of "Creek," aka Rick Weeks. His goal was simple: He wanted a board that would make him surf better in everyday situations. Achieving that goal was a little more challenging.
After multiple revisions and prototypes, with changes to just about every aspect of the board, the final product version of the Ghost was born.
A fuller outline up front blends clean curves through the midsection into a hip that adds some special sauce. Paired with a forward fin placement and a flatter performance rocker, this board is quick and agile no matter where you're standing. If you are looking for a board that does the hard work for you, look no further!
High performance simplified! A board that turns without stepping back on the kick-pad and is super quick and agile no matter where you're standing. A board that works as well in all sizes. True performance to suit virtually everyone in most conditions.
Designed as a board for everyday surf, it excels in low power conditions, but also rips in some juice
Snappy turns in the pocket, easy cutbacks, instant speed in low power situations.
Novice to Advanced.
SPEED: Designed with low forward rocker and the easy release tail, it has good paddle speed for a performance board.
DIRECTIONAL CONTROL: Medium to low yaw, depending on size.
OVER WHITE WATER: The Pixie “Flip” Nose helps the board climb up the whitewater, and its ample surface area assists it over.
WAVE CATCHING ABILITY: Very Good.
As a lifelong surfer, I wanted to actually surf BETTER at 75, I wasn’t ready for the scrap heap just yet. I needed a very different board to accomplish that!
Equally important: Every day I consult on board choices with SUPsters from all over the world.
I do deep dives, beyond their stats, into their personality, goals, challenges, conditions and abilities. Personal relationships are formed.
This gives me a unique understanding of exactly what sort of board would suit the vast majority of SUP surfers.
Goals collide! I knew that if Bert Burger could truly satisfy my personal goal, then we would also be producing a board that would suit virtually everyone, regardless of ability, age, size or conditions.
Bert’s magic tricks: The entire fin cluster is moved forward, placing the “turn spot” squarely under the feet of your average SUP surfer! Matched with a little trickery in the rail, snapping up the face is now an easy task.
Notably there is no loss of drive from forward fin placement, which means they are perfectly placed!
Not designed for tucking high and tight into steep barrels or large powerful surf, where it may get a little skatey.
Generous outline curve with a special hip. The generous outline curve offers great maneuverability both forehand and backhand enabling the board to be surfed radically. The hip allows the board to still keep a slightly straighter section of rail, helping with tracking and down the line speed. It also adds a pivot point over the fins making it turn radically when you get your foot further back.
Pinched in the middle, low in the tail. The pinched rail allows more volume to be packed into a more compact package and allows the deck line to be relatively flat in the standing area, adding comfort. Throughout, the rail line is low enough to offer great hold and penetration of the face so you can feel super confident in any conditions.
Accentuated nose flip, with a clean performance rocker. The accentuated nose flip gives the board great chances to recover when coming back down off the lip whilst the clean performance rocker enables the board to be surfed radically in the power source of the wave. This overall rocker package makes for an extremely maneuverable board.
Flat upfront blending into a single concave through the middle, to a double concave into the back foot and subtle V on the exit. The concave upfront helps initiate a turn earlier, keeps the board responsive, as your rail will engage the second your mind decides to. We have purposely kept the concave out of the nose, this is to reduce over sensitivity and keep the front rail higher out of the water. At speed, if your front rail engages when you don’t want it to, it can throw you off or into a spin. The double concave then creates a spine where the stringer would be but also allows the transition into the subtle V to be smoother. This subtle V kicks in when you are right on the back foot, when somewhere critical it offers that bit more hold and control helping to bed the tail in.
Relatively flat in the standing area through to roll in the tail. Being flat in the standing area adds a level of comfort and stability to the board, whilst keeping the roll towards the tail means the rails can stay nice and low giving you great penetration.
5 Fins. For top to bottom surfing, the thruster will be the better option. As the waves get a little steeper and faster, switch out to the quad to hold a higher, more direct line, or if the waves are flatter and more open with little chance of top to bottom surfing, the quad is also an option.
