The TORPEDO FAAST PRO was originally designed as a board for the Red Bull heavy water and then added to the lineup because of its race board fun factor.

The race board to surf or downwind. An allrounder with some downwind and surf bias. Most likely the most versatile race board we have.

A race board that’s fun to use in the surf or downwind. Not the fastest board in the range, but the most fun.

About the board

GENERAL GOAL/THEME OF THE BOARD

A race board that’s fun to use in the surf or downwind. Not the fastest board in the range, but the most fun.

CONDITIONS ITS WORKING BEST

Any conditions you’d like to tackle. It prefers the ocean and surf over pure flat water.

SKILL LEVEL ITS BEST FOR

Novice to Pro. Just choose the width accordingly.

Paddle power

SPEED: Not the fastest 14’er but definitely the most fun.

DIRECTIONAL CONTROL: Excellent.

OVER WHITE WATER: Very Good.

WAVE CATCHING ABILITY: Average. A healthy rocker combined with a slightly fuller nose.

WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF WHEN YOU DESIGNED IT?

I needed to make a board that would surf and be easy to handle in the waves for the Red Bull heavy water event. It also needed to have a decent paddle speed.

WHAT IT POSSIBLY COMPROMISES ON THEN?

Not the widest tail so can be a little less stable than the Allround Faast Pro for kick turns.

Shape details summary |
Design info

Outline

Fairly standard nose outline. The tail is quite skinny which allows you to lift the nose when surfing or downwinding.

Rails

Rounded hard edge for stability and surfability. This also makes the board less susceptible to chops or waves.

Rocker

Medium rocker. Nothing crazy here.

Bottom

Soft edges in the nose to flat through the rest of the board.

Deck

Flat, with a slight recess in the standing area to give you more stability.

Fins

Single. Good directional control.

Final Statement

If you like to surf and downwind your race board and prioritize fun over all-out speed then this is your board.
