Hi ya,
I’m Addi, a 21-year-old Canadian who stumbled across this internship without realizing it was in Thailand and somehow got accepted (still not sure how, but I'm not asking questions).
I’m going into my final year of university, studying Journalism with a major in Public Relations. This was my first time in Southeast Asia, and it exceeded all my expectations.
Even though I couldn’t surf (shoutout to my knee for tearing everything before I arrived), I still tagged along for the post-work beach runs. Just being out in the water, sitting on a board, and being part of the routine was more than enough. Every now and then, we’d have little beach picnics, watching friends surf while sharing laughs, snacks, and a bit of wine.
The work itself was flexible and hands-on. I assisted with the development of the new website, conducted market research, and contributed to filling the brainstorm wall in the so-called Chamber of Secrets. It never felt corporate or rigid; it was just a creative space where your input actually mattered. Easily one of the most fun and rewarding work experiences I’ve had.
Khao Lak and the Board Factory are such a warm, tight-knit community, and I’m truly grateful to have been part of it. It’s a spot that will always hold a special place in my heart, and somewhere I’ll come back to any chance I get.
