Under the Umbrella of The Board Factory Co., Ltd.

Bert Burger, founder and shaper of SUNOVA Surfboards along with Martin Jandke and Klaus Christian Mueller have built one of the strongest teams in the Surf Industry.

At TBF, the home of SUNOVA Surfboards, the team is committed to uphold the highest standards in everything we create. In our wide range of designs we aim to craft the right boards, for the right waves, for the right riders.

Where did it all start…

Bert Burger began shaping SUNOVA Surfboards over 40 years ago, spending countless hours experimenting with different materials to develop a revolutionary new surfboard technology. His award-winning innovations reached the mainstream when he co-founded Firewire Surfboards with Nev Hyman.

After Firewire, Bert returned to SUNOVA, joining forces with Martin and Klaus to further his vision and push the limits of watercraft design. Martin and Klaus were perfect partners with their extensive experience in manufacturing, R&D, and sales. Martin previously sharpened his tools at Cobra International, the world’s largest surfboard manufacturer, and Klaus with his background in the automotive industry.

Established in 2012 in Chon Buri Thailand, with an approach driven by LEAN manufacturing principles and composite engineering, we continued to add industry professionals from across the globe.

In 2015 Dylan Burger joined his father as a key member of the team, adding fresh ideas and concepts to the board designs, carrying on family traditions.

In 2016 the company relocated its headquarters to Khao Lak, Thailand; approximately 80 km north of Phuket Island. Its coastal location seemed the perfect place for product testing and lifestyle, aligning with the team’s work hard, play hard mantra.

Currently, with over 100 years of experience between our team members and a solid manufacturing framework crafting tens of thousands of boards, we continue to evolve and build our community.

Our vision will never change: the right board, for the right conditions, for the right rider… the adventure continues…
