GENERAL GOAL | THEME OF THE BOARD:

The goal is to turn an emerging surfer into a total shralper in the shortest possible time. I've been involved with competitive surfing for 35+ years, first as a competitor, then as a shaper, sponsor, coach, and also as a judge. This board is about developing Speed, Power, and Flow, something every competitor needs. Contest results will please your sponsors.

Ultimately, the judging criteria establish what good surfing is and what type of surfing earns the high scores. 

The board is also designed with the Judges in mind, as it will perform the maneuvers that earn the points. 

WAVE TYPE | SIZE IT'S WORKING BEST:

If compared to an adult board, it fits into the small wave range. Most 8 to 12-year-olds are surfing small waves.

MANEUVERS IT DOES BEST:

Good Clean power surfing, round house cut backs, long floaters.

SKILL LEVEL IT'S BEST FOR:

Grom, who is progressing.

PADDLE POWER:

Real good.

WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF WHEN YOU DESIGNED IT?:

I have had the pleasure over the years to work with some great young surfers from the age of 8 or 9 years old, and help them progress all the way to late teens, early 20s, and winning National titles and turning Pro. So the number 1 thought was to help a young surfer develop the vital skills to win.

WHAT IT POSSIBLY COMPROMISES ON THEN?:

It has a small wave theme, so don't ride it in giant heavy surf.

FINAL STATEMENT:

A good high-performance board for Groms who who to get good quickly.

OUTLINE:

Clean arc squash tail. A look at the overall plan shape and you see an outline that has a relatively tight arc nose to tail, so from either the first pump or the first bottom turn, the board has great sensitivity and initiates turns instantly. Carries a fraction more nose area to help catch waves.

RAILS:

Low volume melt in your hands. A lower-volume rail offers good sensitivity as you initiate a turn. The tail's bottom edge is quite tucked; this combo offers nice hold on the face into a late sucky drop or high-speed attack. The tucked edge in the tail has great control while drifting sideways and backwards, being less prone to catching a rail and the board flipping underneath you, a copy of what most pros are riding.

ROCKER:

Slightly flatter than a Pro performance tail rocker, with a slightly flatter nose entry. With this amount of rocker, the board stays nice and loose, super sensitive, and fits into tight pockets, allowing you to attack sections at speed. The slightly flatter nose carries onto small waves better without pushing water, and the slightly flatter tail offers good squirt and acceleration out of back foot turns, helping to develop power and speed.. 

BOTTOM:

Flat.. Fast, Fast, Fast ..Designed to get up and go, good length of ride and carry as the wave dies out..

FINS:

Thruster. For top-to-bottom surfing, the thruster will always be the better option.
