THE FLARE is a very special board in the range as it’s designed specifically for standing waves. Whether you’re surfing in a naturally occurring river wave or an artificially generated standing wave this board has everything built in to make the most of the conditions.
With a compact shape and sufficient volume and area, this board will have you in the right spot doing exactly what you want as you think it. A specialized riverboard layup gives the best strength and performance characteristics available. Tried and tested, this shape is a real performer.

What you thought of when you designed it?
This board was originally designed for river waves or standing wave pools. Designed to surf as radically as possible whilst being as compact as it can be, to make the most of the conditions on offer. It also works very well in the ocean too, given the right conditions.
What it possibly compromises on then?
Being very short and wide, it doesn’t handle bigger hollower waves very well.
Shape details summary | Design info
Outline
Fuller short stumpy outline into an area squash. The fuller nose enables the boards to paddle and carry really well into waves, making it an amazing groveler. The stumpy curvy outline helps the board change direction with ease, aiding maneuverability and creating a design that can be surfed radically in super small waves.
Rails
Lower rails with harder tucked bottom edges. The lower rails give amazing hold and control for such a wide board making it controllable, yet the tucked-under hard edges make it incredibly loose and offer amazing release.
Rocker
Medium, slightly flatter. With this rocker, the board carries into waves really well, keeps its speed over dead sections and catches waves easily. Additionally, it carries well in cutbacks and on softer sections.
Bottom
Single to double concave. The contours on this board enable it to transition seamlessly from rail to rail and stay super loose.
Deck
Standard deck roll. Not much going on here apart from thickness distribution. Having the nose and tail quite refined lowers swing weight and keeps the board feeling sensitive.
Fins
Thruster. For top to bottom surfing, the thruster will always be the better option.
Final Statement
This board is an epic performer on standing waves, yet it still performs great in real world conditions in the ocean. This board will literally take you from the city to the sea.
