THE SP 24 is the step up in the SP range. Designed as an ultra high-performance board for medium to large surf. Ideal for waves that have more curvature and power to them.
This board was created to be the high-performance step up from the SP 25 and allows you to push your rail turns, top turns, and airs as much as possible with the least resistance.

About the board
General goal | theme of the board
A high performance step up for medium to large waves.
Conditions it's working best
More powerful bowley waves. From chest high up to double overhead.
Maneuvers it does best
High speed hacks, deep carves.
Skill level it's best for
Intermediate to Pro.
Paddle Power
SPEED: Average.
DIRECTIONAL CONTROL: Poor.
OVER WHITE WATER: Standard.
WAVE CATCHING ABILITY: Average, in the right conditions.
What you thought of when you designed it?
Designed as a board for Sean Poynter with his input and feedback. SP wanted a board that could be surfed radically in larger conditions. A board you could still blow the tail out from and do some nice hacks, yet feel comfortable on at the same time, not out of control.
What it possibly compromises on then?
This board doesn’t really like softer, more open conditions, it can handle small to large conditions but they need to have punch, power and bowl.
Shape details summary |
Design info
Outline
Generous outline curve into a bump squash. The generous outline curve offers great maneuverability both forehand and backhand enabling the board to be surfed radically. This also means the nose and tail can be narrow and refined, offering further comfort in more serious conditions. The bump squash or rounded square offers great squirt and drive off the bottom. The package together makes for a very high performance board.
Rails
Pinched in the middle, low in the tail. The pinched rail allows more volume to be packed into a more compact package and allows the deck line to be relatively flat in the standing area, adding comfort. Throughout, the rail line is low enough to offer great hold and penetration of the face so you can feel super confident in any conditions.
Rocker
A clean banana style curve all the way. The goal is to have the board feel free, workable and loose no matter where you're standing. Also allows the board to be thrown into high speed hacks and power turns in tight parts of the wave.
Bottom
Single concave. No bullshit about redirecting water into the tail or generating lift, blah blah. The concave helps the inside rail engage earlier, initiating turns faster, while also directing water off the outside rail in a downward direction, applying Newton's 3rd law of physics.
Deck
Relatively flat in the standing area through to roll in the tail. Being flat in the standing area adds a level of comfort and stability to the board, whilst keeping the roll towards the tail means the rails can stay nice and low giving you great penetration.
Fins
5 Fins. Thruster all day long for top to bottom surfing, throw in the Quads when the drops are late and it's more down the line, or you’re wanting to hold the high line with more speed.
Final Statement
A really good board for high performance power surfing in larger conditions. This board will let you do anything you can on your small wave SP 25, just in the bigger stuff.
