Sunova Surfboards - Shortboards - Extractor

The Tech

The Extractor evolved from the need to handle the powerful, ledgy reefs that are so plentiful in certain parts of South and Western Australia.

For the juiciest of waves, we set the rails for maximum hold, so on free falling late drops, the Extractor will grab the face wherever it lands and maintain its line high in the pocket.

Recognizing that such technical barrel riding often requires the ability to stop on a dime to properly position yourself for additional tube time, we pulled in the tail and removed excessive tail volume to get the board down in the water so it can be buried deep at high speed.

A quick gouge in the pocket will wash off speed and allow you to set up for the next heaving section. To assist with such manoeuvres, we set the fins far back to enable tight, controlled turns off the tail.

When you need to handle the juice, you need an Extractor!

The Commitment

We want all our customers on the equipment that is perfect for them.

To get the most from your surfing, it is very important that your equipment is matched to your body weight, surfing style, ability, and preferred wave type.

Each location for surfing is different and some curves will work great in some waves and not in others. For that reason we have included our surfboard information to help you find a board that fits your unique needs.

The Optimum Wave Types on this page describes the types of waves that each shortboard model is designed for. In addition, the Sunova Weight / Skill Chart will help you select the board that best suits your size and ability level.
